It is 10 years since Denham Bramwell first ‘hung out its shingle’ in June 2014. As part of our celebrations, we thought it timely to share our story.
After the formation of the Auckland Super City, the Manukau office of the Auckland city law firm with which Brett Abraham was a partner, faced closure. He and John Deluger (now retired) managed to buy it and joined forces with Manukau-based barristers, Fiona Cowan, Sarah Vyle and the late Peter Webb to form Denham Bramwell. The name originates from Fiona Cowan’s middle name – Denham, and Brett Abraham’s middle name – Bramwell.
In 2021, Nola McGowan joined the firm through a merger with Vlatkovich and McGowan. She said it was one of the best decisions she ever made. And in May 2024, Brooke Glasgow, Emma Boad and Anna Fuiava were promoted, creating a senior leadership team of seven partners.
The firm is experiencing rapid growth with 60 employees spread throughout its three offices in Manukau, Whangaparaoa and Albany. This is projected to reach 80 once the Albany office is fully staffed. We have built a solid reputation as an organisation whose people have strong roots in the communities they serve and genuinely care for their clients.
On 6th June we closed the doors for the day so the whole team could celebrate the 10-year milestone at Kauri Bay Boomrock. Team get-togethers are a regular occurrence because we value genuine human connection and put the well-being of our people first. The firm culture supports them through empathy and flexible business practices.
It’s proved to be a commercially sound approach, especially in an emotionally challenging work environment like ours. You can’t pour from an empty cup so we look after our people to enable them to support our clients successfully.
We look forward to the next 10 years serving the legal needs of our communities.

Why you need an Enduring Power Of Attorney (EPA)
An EPA allows you to choose who will make decisions for you in the future if injury or illness means you can’t make decisions or manage your own affairs. If something happens to you and you do not have an EPA, your family would have to apply to the Family Court to be able to act on your behalf
